Tied up

…tied up and twisted, the way I’d like to be…” ~ Dave Matthews, “Crash Into Me.”

fishing lure tangled around tree limb

I rose to your bait, and you hooked me without a fight. Reeling me in, and scooping me out of the ocean with your net, I was breathless at your feet. You saw a prize in me, a trophy.

Your fishing days are over, your lures no longer needed.

  1. I grew up fishing with my late grandfather. When I was about 8 years old, I threw my cast into a tree and he said “son, I’ve tried that many times and ain’t never caught nothing”.

When I was in college, I was dating a much older woman and she was pressuring me to propose. I talked to my grandfather and he said “son, doing something you ain’t ready for is like throwing your fishin’ line into a tree”.

    I got it

  2. Those fish hooks are nasty things. I had a patient come into emergency one day with a hook caught in his cheek. It was kind of funny if it wasn’t so painful.
