A glimpse of azure and ecru
A scent of salt and sea air
The pull of the ocean
A siren’s call luring
A reluctant sailor to adventures
Beyond the horizon
Conquer the white whale
Defeat the Kraken
Brave the rocky straits
This wandering spirit
Is content on the sand
Basking in the glory of summer
The promise of spring
Briny breezes wafting
In on white caps waves
A heady perfume
Reminiscent of freshly washed linen
And the tang of sweet lemonade
Sandcastles and starfish
Sunsets and thunderstorms
Lightning piercing the sky
Kites and bonfires
Firefly sparks dancing in the dark

I love that last stanza….”sandcastles and starfish” just evoked so many images and sensory projections

this speaks to my soul – for that I thank you. My beaches are cold and icy this time of year – and even in the summer are not nearly as warm as yours. But still the sea calls to me in a way I never thought possible – until I moved here.

Lovely. I think you really captured the essence of time spent at the seaside.

So, here I am in Florida, and still haven’t gone to the beach. You should probably just disown me now.
