Pale faces at my window, alien and distorted, paralyze me with fear. I shake my head, trying to dispel white noise voices that buzz inside my brain. I can’t escape from these aberrations.

This weekend’s Trifextra challenge is to,”Write a horror story in 33 words, without the words blood, scream, died, death, knife, gun, or kill.”
Someone near and dear to me sees these faces and hears these voices. While this isn’t a classic horror story, it is a real Hitchcockian nightmare from which he will never wake. That, to me, is frightening beyond measure.
Thanks so much for linking up with Trifecta this week. Hope to see you back on Monday (10 am Eastern) for the new prompt and some exciting news about the changes Trifecta is making to spread the word about our writing community.

“Paralyze me with fear.” I hate that feeling. Tragic, unfair, and horrific at the same time.

Ouch. It feels like the narrator is trapped. I imagine your friend greeting every visitor with fear, struggling to hear their true voices over the white noise.

Sad and horrible. Pale faces at my window. That says it all.
