Yet you don’t understand

We read the same books
Quote our favorite movies
But have nothing in common
We share a God
A compatible sense of right and wrong
Though we can never agree
Your body fits perfectly
Around mine
You say you’ve outgrown me
We move in the same direction
Along a mutual path
Only you can’t find your way to me
We were a perfect match
We were made for each other
Have we ever actually met
A lover’s whisper in the dark
Separates us
