Good neighbors

December 14, 2011January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 11 Comments

Looking around to make sure no one was watching her, Pauley swirled a finger around her dessert plate, scooping up any remaining pie juice and crust crumbs. Sticking her finger in her mouth up to the last knuckle she slurped off the sticky sweetness, licking her lips, then wiping her mouth with the back of … Continue reading Good neighbors

One year later…

December 13, 2011January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 18 Comments

Away in a manger

December 8, 2011January 5, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 10 Comments

The room, out of the wind and weather, was better than sleeping outside. The donkeys and sheep crowded around, adding the warmth of their bodies to the small family. A rich perfume of animal musk hung in the air. Dressed in crude, homespun clothing, the mother wrapped her newborn in her shawl, laying him in … Continue reading Away in a manger
