An indecent proposal

January 8, 2013January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 20 Comments

I wanted to do this right, to make the moment special, make her feel special. I had a whole different outcome in mind when I began. We sat together on the couch after dinner. Holding her close, she was tucked under my arm, her cheek resting against my chest. With my free hand, I squeezed … Continue reading An indecent proposal

Gimme some sugar

January 8, 2013January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 13 Comments

Growing up in the south, the simple word “sugar” had so many meanings. It was that syrupy layer on the bottom of a jug of sweet tea, and it was the pet name all your aunties called you, and well, everyone else, even the Pastor. “Sugar” was the kisses your sweetheart gave when no one … Continue reading Gimme some sugar

Resolve

January 5, 2013January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 5 Comments

In the coming year... I resolve to keep looking forward, paying no heed to the drama and turmoil surrounding me. I resolve to not let life swamp me, leaving me drowning in insecurities and doubt. I resolve to not be just one of the flock, but to follow my heart and reach for the sky. And... … Continue reading Resolve

Fracking

January 4, 2013January 5, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 26 Comments

Peel away my brittle crust, shards cracking along fault lines, exposing a vulnerable underbelly, sore and raw. Delve too deep and my molten core erupts, scorching all in its path, an unquenchable force.
