A change in the season

October 8, 2011January 10, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 30 Comments

I grew up in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. This time of year - early October - the foliage in the Smokies is glorious. Red, orange, gold, and burgundy, the color spectrum is truly stunning. The very air seems to change to a richer shade of blue. Aside from the mountains … Continue reading A change in the season

Worldwide Photo Walk

October 1, 2011January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 20 Comments

This weekend I participated in the Fourth Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, brainchild of Scott Kelby. According to Kelby's website, more than 1100 walks were planned and more than 30,000 shutterbugs participated in the two-day event. My group met in downtown Fort Walton Beach. A dozen or so local artists and amateurs trooped about snapping photos … Continue reading Worldwide Photo Walk

Autumn afternoons

September 25, 2011January 10, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 18 Comments

Today's photos are from a hike at Rocky Bayou State Park, just a short trip from my home. I had the trails to myself, except for a few lizards that I scared up on my walk. It's beginning to feel and look more and more like fall. Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile. ~ William … Continue reading Autumn afternoons

What was wrought

September 17, 2011June 27, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 19 Comments

This week I made a return visit to St. Michael's Cemetery near downtown Pensacola. The last time I went, I focused on photographing the historic monuments and gravestones. This trip, the wrought iron work, which is every bit as beautiful and intricate as the stones, fascinated me. Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an … Continue reading What was wrought

Old downtown

September 10, 2011January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 24 Comments

Drove around historic downtown Panama City this week. Captured a few more old signs and some other interesting sights. No storms this time, just cooler fall temps and clear blue skies. (Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4) For more … Continue reading Old downtown

Storm chasing: Tropical Storm Lee

September 3, 2011January 10, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 34 Comments

On this gloriously rainy Labor Day weekend, I headed out to the annual Greek Festival hosted by Sts. Markela & Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Walton Beach. The food, all prepared by parishioners, is as authentic as it gets. I had to get a to-go box to take most of it home there was so much. That... … Continue reading Storm chasing: Tropical Storm Lee
