100 Word Challenge: Spring

After a weekend of passing around the familial cold, pints of NyQuil, cartons of tissue, gallons of water and juice, Monday dawned bright and my cold had seeped into my chest. I woke up sounding like a barking seal.

Spent most of the day emptying my tissue trash and heating water for chamomile tea.

Tuesday had to be better right?

I still sounded like a seal, still had to carry around a box of tissue and hand sanitizer (actually unloaded and loaded the dishwasher while wearing disposable gloves), but I didn’t feel like I’d been run over by a train any longer.

Spring is officially still three weeks away, but I needed some fresh air. So, I got my car washed. Not the deluxe or Maxx wash, simply a basic clean-off-all-the-yellow-pollen-and-winter-grim sort of wash.

I even spent the extra time to vacuum out all the dead leaves and last year’s summer sand.

It felt so good to have a clean car, I decided to treat myself to lunch.

And the day just kept getting better…

The driver in the car ahead of me in the drive-thru paid for my lunch. When I tried to buy lunch for the driver behind me, the cashier said my guy paid for that guy’s lunch too. I’m looking for a way to pay it forward.

A free lunch, a clean car, and sunshine… can’t beat that, except to stop coughing and snotting.
