The habit of dreaming

I’m the kid who has this habit of dreaming
Sometimes gets me in trouble too
But the truth is I could no more stop dreaming
Than I could make them all come true

Every Saturday, it is my habit to go on a solitary photo hike. This weekly outing is my chance to focus on my photography hobby, to appreciate the beauty of nature, and find a quiet place to relax.

I also take it as a chance to daydream. I talk to myself, sing terribly off-key to favorite songs, dance a little dance, and sometime just sit in the sun, soaking in the light and warmth.

These forays into the woods, or along the ocean shore, are more than a habit. They are my way of finding myself while trying to not get lost.

  1. it has to be the best way to spend a Saturday…exploring and “being”. I envy your habit (and of course I hope one day I get to spend one Saturday with you…)

  2. it seems that we may be kindred spirits with similar habits. I love to sing and dance ’tis true and I am blessed to live on a forested property on a forested island ringed with gorgeous beaches. However, my singing and dancing usually takes place on the beach in the moonlight. In the sunlit hours I tend to stroll in silence soaking up the maximum my senses can take in and storing it all for future reference when I paint or write.

    1. That sounds absolutely lovely. Living along the Gulf Coast, but also in northern Florida, I have a choice of hiking venues… beach or woods. Typically, I am totally alone in the woods, and that is where my spontaneous singing and dancing occurs. I sit and ponder when I go the the beach. Too much of an audience there.
