Sanctuary

sheshells

She sells sea shells,
Tiny sanctuaries, for tiny denizens
White on white, multi-chambered dwellings

Stranded at high tide,
Flotsam and jetsam left at the door
A peek through window

  1. Looking at your photo makes me think of how many times I’ve picked up sea shells and wondered if anybody was in there. When I was a kid I was wadding Long Island Sound in the back of my aunt’s home when I found a clam shell and it had a ugly fish in it. I later found out it was a dog fish.
