My dad and step-mom came to visit a few weeks ago. With them, he brought treasures from a recent KonMari purge of their guest room…. my school report cards from 4th through 8th grade.
I was brilliant.
No, but really… I was apparently a bit of a – as they said in the olden days – chatterbox.
The running theme for teacher notes for all five of those years was that Little Tara had a problem with talking too much.
Despite being an exceptional math student and above-grade-level reader, my loquaciousness was deterrent to my classmates’ ability to concentrate on their work. That has carried over into adulthood, yet now I’m not as garrulous as I am verbose.

I got the exact same thing on my report cards and the discussions sound pretty much the same. Haven’t heard the term chatterbox in many a year. I don’t recall any of my kids being called chatters and none of them are readers or writers either. Maybe there is some kind of link there.
