It’s been raining around here for the last week or so. It’s raining today and forecasts call for rain the rest of this week and well into next.
With a smattering of thunder and lightning thrown in for added ambience, all I want to do is wrap up in a warm blanket and be lulled to sleep by the pitter-patter of rain outside.
This is not a good environment for creative inspiration.
If there was a tin roof involved, I’d be practically catatonic.
I am grateful that the afghan that I am working on is nearly finished and is long enough to cover not only my legs, but my chilled feet. Otherwise, all this rainy background music would be wasted.
Today is the first of August. It is hot, steamy and wet. It is raining. I am tempted to write a poem. But I remember what it said on one rejection slip: ‘After a heavy rainfall, poems titled ‘Rain’ pour in from across the nation. ~ Sylvia Plath
This week’s word is:
Roof
What to do:
Using “roof” for inspiration, write 100 Words – 100 exactly – no more, no less. You can either use the word – or any form of the word – as one of your 100, or it can be implied. Include a link in your post back here, and add your story to the Mister Linky list. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave your submission in the comment section, or as a Facebook status post. Remember to keep spreading the love with supportive comments for your fellow Wordsters.
I love Colorado and my son wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, but I do wish it rained more. I have a low tolerance for heat and summers are always miserable for me.

I’ve been having trouble leaving comments on Blogspot sites. I read your entry and really liked it. I love the sound of rain on a roof too, preferably a tin roof.

I miss living in a place with rain. If I could, I’d move to GA or back to WA so I could have the rain. I’d trade everything I own for it.

I like watching rain come in over the Gulf. You can see the whole storm front moving across the horizon.
