100 Word Challenge: Turkey

I got a little overwhelmed with prep work for tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner and didn’t take a break until it was dark outside. Sorry for the late post.

So I can have time to actually enjoy dinner with my family, I try to get as much of the meal together the day before.

All that remains is cooking the ham and turkey, and baking everything thing else. I can just stick it all in the oven and sit back.

Hopefully, the peeps will take care of the clean up, but I’m not holding my breath.

  1. I’ve been away for a while. I had surgery and sadly, my 93 year old father died meaning lots of funeral planning and a trip to Pennsylvania. Thanksgiving was very different this year. I’m glad you were able to have a good one.I love Thanksgiving but it is a lot of work, isn’t it? I hope your family was good to you and cleaned up after dinner so you could rest.
    Here is my offering for …
    TURKEY
    I saw an older woman eyeing the turkey in my shopping cart. “I don’t know how you’re planning to cook that but I have a suggestion.”

    “Oh and what is that?” I asked.

    “Use cheesecloth. Cut it big enough to cover the turkey. Dip the cheesecloth in a bowl of melted butter. Cover the turkey with the cloth. Baste the turkey while it bakes. 20 minutes before it’s done remove the cheesecloth so it can brown. I guarantee the best juiciest turkey you’ll ever taste.”

    I tried it. The woman was right. Best turkey you’d ever eat. It’s tradition now.

      1. Thanks very much for your condolences. It is hard to realize that he is gone. I live far away but spoke to him regularly. It is painful not to pick up the phone to call him. I know he is happy. He so missed my mother who died 22 years ago. He wanted to be with her. I hope they are together.❤️
