Warmth is sitting on the beach, any time of the year, soaking up the sunshine, and breathing in the salt air and sea spray.
Even on the coldest days, a day by the ocean is comforting. You can feel tension releasing from your body as easily as the tides ebb and flow. Restored by the fresh breezes and song of the water, the sun beaming down and chasing away any chill, it is a warmth that stays with you, even when you’re far away from the sea.

Sigh. I love this so much.

I remember the feeling of the sea – sitting on the shore in a dark night with just the sound of the surf in my ears – leaning on the top rail of a large ship in heavy seas, feeling the warp and woof of the sea as it rolled under the ship – standing at the end of a long pier on a night with gentle breezes and the moon, low over the water, reflecting in thousands of points of light. And I remember the peace that reached in to the deep places in my soul.
