St. Michael’s

I had all these wonderful plans for Saturday. First I had a lovely lunch with my girl crush Angie, then set out for my weekly photo hike. I even packed a change of clothes and shoes to make the slog thru the Florida heat and humidity (lung-collapsing since the rains have held off) more comfortable.

The problem came when I drove the hour-plus to Pensacola (the idea was to hike around Big Lagoon State Park) only to discover I left my duffel at home. Bother…

With the dodgy foot, I couldn’t hike around in my flops, and since I didn’t want to waste an afternoon (and a 1.5 hour drive), I visited a favorite stand-by ~ St. Michael’s Cemetery.

I love this place! The history is so fascinating. There are ornate gravestones, and crude handmade ones. Some markers date back to the early 1800s. It’s a veritable Who’s Who of Pensacola antiquity.

It seemed appropriate that I edit these all as black and white.
